Many men and woman of God have fallen in the midst of their assignment, but not all of them fail. David fell in his assignment, but we see in the Word that he ultimately fulfilled the purpose of God for his life. Falling is an event, while failing is a position. Though men of God may not fail in their assignments, the event of falling has a devastating effect on their families, their ministries and everyone they are connected to. The Word of God tells us that if the shepherd is struck down the sheep will inevitably scatter. The enemy desires to break the body of Christ down by coming against the leaders of the body. It is our jobs as leaders and members of the body to keep watch for his tactics and to establish structure and systems to guard against his plans.
