DON'T TAKE THE BAIT

Everybody, every single person who has ever lived on earth, has been offended. Not once, but many times. In some cases, many, many times. Sometimes we may view an offense as being slight. At other times we may be offended and carry a resentment against another for the rest of our lives. Statistics say eighty-five percent of people who leave a local church leave due to an offense.

Some people hardly seem to notice an offense, maybe because they do not understand its ramifications. Others seem to be able to bear the meanest of personal attacks. Though undoubtedly very hurt, they quickly recover and can continue without resentment toward the offender. God instructs us to guard and keep our hearts to avoid contamination. In order to deal with offense, we must first begin by protecting our hearts from the intentions of the enemy. And when we find ourselves in times of offense, resentment, bitterness, and unforgiveness, we must be willing to take the necessary steps to receive God’s healing and release all of the devices of the enemy. It’s important that we be mindful of this spirit because it can actually help undermine a divine move of God. We need to be extremely conscious not to take the bait.
