Choosing a
Winning Apostolic Team - Part VI
The Power of Agreement
by Dr. John Tetsola
Last month we saw the significance of developing meaningful relationships with others because nothing substantial ever survives alone. We saw that some battles will never be won apart from the multiplication of power found in the team spirit. With the struggling economy, job losses, terrorist attacks and woes of the past decade, doctors are revealing that heart failure is the number one cause of disease-related deaths in North America. Christ warned us that the coming difficulties would cause men's hearts to fail (Lk. 21:26). But as followers of Christ, we have the release of God’s help through the power of agreement. As we enter the new decade of 2010, what better time to employ the help of God by leaving the molds of past mindsets behind to embrace the rewards that stem from the power of agreement.
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:1, 4
In Acts chapter two, the Holy Spirit showed up big time when they were all with one accord in one place. Great things happen when people come into agreement. Have you ever considered the power of agreement in marriage? Think about this for a moment. When you become angry with your spouse and you sleep on the edge of the bed because you don’t even want your feet to touch because you’re offended, God refuses to hear your prayers. Imagine that! No matter how good you are, how fast you can pray, or how much Scripture you quote, if you stay out of agreement and remain in that division, your prayers will be hindered and never reach God. Now consider what happens when husband and wife get along in peace and unity. We create an open heaven that benefits the whole family. It helps us with our deficiencies and with the needs we each have in life and ministry. So make peace quickly when you fall out of accord because you need the power of agreement to keep the heavens open over you.
The Release of God's Help
Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven.
Matthew 18:19 AMP
Whenever a genuine team spirit is established with the power of agreement in operation, it puts a demand on God’s power to be released on the earth. Jesus said if two people agree and partner together in prayer about “anything and everything they may ask,” God’s help is released to bring it to pass. The power of God gets activated on our behalf when two or more people come into agreement. The Greek words “on earth agree” implies the harmonious partnering of heaven and earth as in a symphony. Some matters will never be resolved without the release of God’s help through the power of agreement. When men’s hearts are failing in fear, the Body of Christ will abound in faith and courage. And when worldly systems fail to make the grade, we’ll be comforted with the assurance that our God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Phil. 4:19). By upholding the team spirit and coming into the power of agreement, we are assured that it will “…be done for them by My Father in heaven” (Matt. 18:19). In this new decade of 2010, many will find reasons to fret. Some may worry about the struggling economy, and others may live in fear of terrorist attacks. But we will not fear. In 2010 and beyond, utilize every advantage you can have, and a great deal of it is found in the release of God’s help through the power of agreement.
